From publishers

  • Email address, used to sign in.
  • Payment account identifiers and credentials, used to create plans and read subscriptions on the publisher’s own account.
  • A publication session, used to grant and revoke paid access on that publication.
  • Business details the publisher enters for their own policy pages, which are shown publicly by design.

From readers

  • Email address, entered at checkout, which is the only way to grant access on the publication.
  • A record of the subscription: plan, amount, billing dates, and whether access was granted.
  • Payment status returned by the payment provider, such as succeeded or failed.

Never collected

Card numbers, UPI PINs, CVVs and bank credentials are never seen or stored by Merova. They are entered directly into the payment provider’s own checkout.

Who data is shared with

  • Razorpay, the payment provider, to take payments and manage mandates.
  • Substack, to grant paid access on the publication.
  • Supabase, which hosts the database, and Railway, which hosts the application.

Data is not sold, rented, or used for advertising.

How long it is kept

For as long as the account or subscription is active, and afterwards only as long as needed to meet tax and accounting obligations.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted once there is no legal reason to keep it. Write to supreetgupta2002@gmail.com and you will get a reply within 7 working days.

A reader whose access came through a publisher should raise the request with that publisher, whose contact details are on their subscribe page, since the publisher is the seller.
